DWR Boater Safety Course

Boater Safety Course


Before hitting the water this year, make sure you have the education and certification to do so safely. As of 2016, all operators (regardless of age) of PWCs (personal watercraft such as jet skis, Sea Doos, and Wave Runners) and operators (regardless of age) of motorboats with a motor of 10 horsepower or greater will be required to have a boating safety education course completion card on board when operating a PWC or motorboat. This course instructed by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) will cover: boating operations, safe boating practices, navigation signs and boating responsibilities.
