Join us from some hiking events around Nelson County.  These programs will teach you the basics to getting outdoors on the trails as well as highlighting some of the region's hot view spots and diverse flora.  

“Wildflower Wander” Beginner Friendly Hiking Adventure
Take an enchanting stroll into the nearby National Forest in search of the spring season’s wildflowers. Three Ridges Touring owner and adventure guide, Laura Wolf will lead you into the heart of nature in Three Ridges Wilderness from Love Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From delicate blossoms to hardy forest flowers, come discover some of the region's diverse flora! The most stunning showcase will be the mountain laurel and rhododendrons, among other fascinating flowers. Hiking distance will be approximately 3 miles with gentle climbing grades and no sustained climbing. Plan to spend about 2 hours in the woods. This is a perfect ‘first time’ hike. No previous hiking experience necessary. Grab some comfortable shoes and come on a Wildflower Wander!

Hike 101
Want to get started hiking, but you’re not sure where to start? Been trying some hiking but want to learn the basics so you can take it further and feel confident exploring new spaces? Please join Three Ridges Touring owner and adventure guide, Laura Wolf, for an introduction to hiking! Through a blend of engaging instruction and outdoor exploration, participants will delve into the essentials of hiking covering a variety of topics like how to choose a route, weather preparedness, seasonal considerations, what to wear, essential gear, hiking etiquette, and safety. Participants will leave with tons of resources on how to find hiking buddies or a group and where to find hikes in the area. In the second hour, we invite you to put into practice what you’ve learned with a social hike, allowing you to forge connections with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Perhaps you’ll find a new hiking buddy! Join us for this two-hour adventure aimed at equipping you with the skills and confidence needed to get started hiking responsibly.
