VA Blue Ridge Railway Trail - Piney River
7 miles of flat gravel scenic trail for hiking, bicycling,
or horseback riding
Rockfish Valley Loop Trail - Nellysford
Flat hiking trail with spectacular mountain views
Montebello Nature Trail - Montebello
1/2 mile birding trail
Spy Rock - Montebello
A 3.1 mile round trip hike to spectacular views.
Appalachian Trail
Hike 45 miles in Nelson County with moderate to rugged terrain
Crabtree Falls
Visit the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi that falls a
distance of 1200’. The first overlook is an easy 700’ from the new parking lot. It’s 1.1 miles to the top
Fortune's Cove Nature Preserve - Lovingston
5.3 mile strenuous hiking trail
As with all exercise, check with your doctor before beginning a new fitness
activity. Get in shape before attempting the more strenuous hikes. Make sure you are prepared with water, appropriate footwear, & knowledge of the area.
